When I started investing I admittedly didn't have a clue what I was doing. I was very impulsive and didn't do nearly enough research. At the time, fundamental analysis was all I understood and I barely understood that. Over the years (5 or so) I've been bitten by the technical analysis bug. I love technical analysis. It seems to me, a person could be a very successful investor on technical analysis alone. How do you guys feel about that? Is that an accurate statement? With minimal fundamental analysis and lots of technical analysis can a person invest successfully? Or would that be considered more "trading" vs. "investing?"

I was told to not follow a technical analysis because it just follows graphs and charts that chart trends. But, I don't know the difference between these two.

I live in Asia and it is not common to use technical analysis to invest, since most TV financial speakers, financial magazines only talk about the fundamental volumes of stocks which don't always happen. So is it common to use technical analysis to buy/sell stocks in US?

I'm just starting forex trading and was wondering what tracking program would be best for me to begin to do Technical Analysis with. It would be nice if I could use a free program or at least a low cost one but if I need to I'll spring for a program to help me track currencies and develop a trading strategy.
